October is National Seafood Month—a time to celebrate the ocean's bounty, which feeds billions worldwide every day.

As if producing the oxygen we need to survive wasn't enough, the ocean has also provided human civilization with its primary source of energy—seafood—for millions of years. In fact, reliance on this steady stream of food played a critical role in the dissemination of peoples across the world.

Mermaid's Kiss Oyster Fest

The Oyster Recovery Partnership's fifth annual Mermaid's Kiss gala will be held in partnership with the National Aquarium on Tuesday, October 6 in Baltimore. This year, 800 Chesapeake Bay enthusiasts will eat, drink and mingle during the region's largest raw-oyster-bar event in history. Enjoy signature dishes from some of the best local restaurants, as well as live entertainment and, of course, the freshest and tastiest local oysters!
