FDA Caution For Dog Users

FDA Caution For Dog Owners

FIRST NAME RULE
Since you have asked a Dog Veterinary question. JustAnswer, wanted to let you know about a recent caution to dog owners regarding chicken jerky products (also sold as chicken tenders, strips or treats). The FDA cautions that in the last 12 months it has seen increased reports of dog illnesses associated with the consumption of chicken jerky products imported from China.

--------------------------------------------------

According to the FDA the following symptoms may occur within hours to days of feeding these products:
a.. Decreased appetite
b.. Decreased activity
c.. Vomiting
d.. Diarrhea, sometimes with blood
e.. Increased water consumption and/or increased urination
If your dog shows any of these symptoms, owners are advised to stop feeding the chicken jerky product and consult with their veterinarian if signs are severe or persist for more than 24 hours.

Read more about this caution and the active investigation of this problem on the FDA website.

Re: [boxer lovers] new member

I had 2 boston terriers when I brought Satch home. He was good with them because they were here first, I believe. He didn't take to the cat though, I had to give him away. The bostons were old and they passed away soon after he came.

I have a 3 month old boxer female puppy. My son decided to bring her home one day and surprise me. I also have a Maltese at home who is 6 years old and 10lbs. The Maltese has adjusted wonderfully to the new puppy. My questions is when the boxer gets bigger, will she be gentle on the Maltese and what can I do to make sure this happens. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Valerie
