What Can Planting Trees Teach 7th-Graders?

Books and classrooms offer plenty of opportunities for students to learn about ecology and conservation—but nothing is quite as educational as getting outside and getting your hands dirty. That's exactly what kids from Snow Hill Middle School have discovered this year after caring for 250 Atlantic white cedar seedlings and planting them at Nassawango Creek Preserve in Salisbury, Maryland.

A family from North Carolina received a surprise when they reached the National Aquarium ticket booth last Friday: They marked our 50 millionth guest since our opening in 1981 and received a free family membership!

The Oyster Recovery Partnership's fifth annual Mermaid's Kiss gala will be held in partnership with the National Aquarium on Tuesday, October 6 in Baltimore. This year, 800 Chesapeake Bay enthusiasts will eat, drink and mingle during the region's largest raw-oyster-bar event in history. Enjoy signature dishes from some of the best local restaurants, as well as live entertainment and, of course, the freshest and tastiest local oysters!
