Wildlife of the Everglades
The Everglades encompasses nearly two million acres and includes a remarkable variety of wetland habitats—sawgrass marshes, pinelands, cypress swamps, mangroves, coastal prairies, and tropical hardwood hammocks. It is home to a vast diversity of animal life including more than 400 species of birds, 60 species of reptiles, 25 species of mammals, and 275 species of fish.
