If your boxer puppy is not gaining weight, why would you consider scaling
back on his food? In my experience, it's a very individual thing. Our
almost 3 year old rescue boxer Dumbo takes in way more calories than he
"ought to," however he remain a muscular 60 pounds so we continue to feed
him this larger amount. He does have GI issues, confirmed through scoping,
and has medication for that. But whether it's the GI issues, his activity
level, or overall metabolism, he just needs more food. (We did not have
luck w/a raw diet as it caused vomiting and diarrhea in our boxer--again
every dog is different.) His physical appearance, overall health, and
weight should guide your decision making, in my opinion. How are your dog's
  poops?
