Re: [boxer lovers] to breed or not to breed

Breeding is full of expenses when done properly. You also need some money put aside for problems that can arise over the normal costs of a litter, One of the biggest cost is if the Mom can not deliver normal and needs a c-section. If Mom does not have enough milk, the puppy milk replacement, Esbilac can cost over $5.00 an 8 oz can. Then if you decide to crop the tails and dewclaws there is another expense. Proper pre natal and post natal vet care for the Mom is not cheap either.
To raise puppies is also time consuming. It is the breeders responsibility to socialize puppies and do preliminary training. By the time my puppies leave they are all walking on a leash.
Breeding is something that you really need to find a mentor with lots of experience in Boxers to guide you along. We have many people in this group that can give advice on non urgent matters but in the case of a emergency you will need a Veternarian. You will have to find out from your Vet what happens in the case of after hour emergencys. Some of them refer their patients to after hour clinics. Most of these require cash before treatment.
There is a lot to take into consideration before breeding.
