RE: [boxer lovers] Hi all!

These days, Reverse Brindle is used to refer to a dog that has such dense
brindling that they look like they are black with fawn stripes rather than
fawn with black stripes. But, the standard REQUIRES that there be at least
one stripe of fawn on the dog or it is an automatic DQ.

Reverse Brindle is not really an accepted description in the breed standard,
it is just a shorthand way to describe a boxer that has such heavy brindling
as to appear black with a little bit of fawn.

One that has too much white, over 1/3 of the coat, as Lisa points out, is
called a Check but in common parlance, is called a White Boxer. Bred, sadly,
by unethical breeders, they are often marketed as "Rare White Boxers" and
uneducated buyers think they are buying an unusual and semi unique type of
acceptable Boxer. They are buying an unusual type of dog but, they usually
do not know the problems that come with White boxers such as the tendency to
deafness. Deafness does not appear in all white boxers but is possible in
all of them and when you intentionally breed two of them together, even if
your parent dogs are not deaf, you run the serious risk of producing deaf
dogs in that litter or successive ones.

That is why a Check or a white boxer is considered out of Standard and is an
automatic DQ. It is also why they should NEVER be bred, like other genetic
defects, visible or not.
