Hello: I received an email from the New York Initiative Coordinator for Best Friends Animal Society about a dachshund in need in Vermont. Presley only has until the end of THIS week to find a foster home. If anyone can help Presley, please contact Marianne DeMarco directly at mdemarco@bestfriends.org or the number listed below.
My name is Marianne DeMarco and I work with the New York "outpost" of Best Friends Animal Society. One of our Community Animal Assistants has come across a case that she is surprisingly having trouble with.
Central Vermont Humane Society has a 3 year old doxie that had a seizure. The emergency vet couldn't figure out the problem and recommended following up with his primary care vet. But his family chose not to do that, and he continued feeling down. Ultimately they simply surrendered him.
When he doesn't feel well he gets testy and keeps to himself. Otherwise he's a calm and well-behaved guy. He likes to walk on leash and knows basic obedience. He's captured the hearts of the folks at Central Vermont humane. He's fine around other dogs and hasn't had any issues.
We've put out the word that we're looking for a foster home for Presley, but he doesn't have much time left -- in fact, only until the end of this week. If you have any availability to take Presley, we'd be more than happy to arrange a transport. If you might have any other leads, that would be great too.
Thanks so much, and please let me know if you need any more info (you can go here to check out the member message we sent out:
