16.5 lbs when I adopted her. She goes back to
My vet later this month. I've increased her exercise with frequent walks and playtimes. I think she will reach her goal long before I do! I will try and post a picture of her. She is such an affectionate little girl. I am thinking of getting her certified as a therapy dog once her other issues are resolved.
Lulu is the first small dog I have had since my childhood. I have had collies and goldens but no small dogs. Lulu loves to ride in the car and has traveled to Denver for two weekend visits with me and loved it.
Lulu was previously owned by an elderly woman whose health was failing so I'm assuming she had little exercise. I do know she was loved because it shows in her personality. I'm glad I was able to adopt her!!

Hello Jean,my name is Donna and I have a red smooth also she is almost two. She has 6 pounds to shed also. I give her 1/3 cup of food in am and pm. I add green beans with no salt and carrots. Hi Everyone- I just adopted a wonderful Dachshund/mix from the Boulder Humane Society(a super good humane society with behavior modification training, support etc,) Her name is Lulu and she is adorable!! I grew up with a dachshund named Gretel in the 1950s. I live in Colorado which is a state that is "heaven for dogs" - dog parks everywhere, everyone has dogs and they are allowed in many businesses, also dog/bike paths everywhere. Lulu needs to shed a few pounds and so do I so we are great for each other. The behavioral issue we are working on with the humane society's support is fear barking at big dogs and loud men. She is making some progress with the men. If anyone has any suggestions for me I'd greatly appreciate them. She is wonderful with my grandchildren so I am very happy. Lulu is a red smooth dachshund just like Gretel was.
