This little guy, Otto, was seized from a property in Southern Ohio and cruelty charges were initiated against his owner. Otto was slated to go to rescue. However, after learning that in addition to his obvious skin issues, he also has a herniated diaphragm, the rescue was not able to continue to help Otto.
The hole in Otto's diaphragm may be congenital or a result of trauma, but we are not able to determine the exact cause. It is large enough that some organs have passed thru and are now residing in his chest - xrays reveal the pancreas, possibly liver, and some intestines are currently misplaced. It is possible that the hole could continue to tear and cause more damage. Otto is already breathing irregularly.
Rather than euthanize this 3-4 year old friendly boy, we are trying to raise enough funds to clear his skin issues and then allow him to have surgery to repair the hernia. Estimated expenses over the course of the next month, including surgery, is $2000-$2200.
