Shonda,

Thank you for your reply.  We haven't had any luck finding the dachshund's owner.  We've posted him on KC Pet Connection and also have taken him to a few veterinarian offices near where he was found to see if he looked familiar to them but no luck there either.  We would appreciate any help you could give us to find him a foster home.  Here are my numbers - home 913-782-2157  cell 913-485-6000.  I am attaching a picture just in case anyone might recognize him, although that's probably not likely but certainly worth a try!

Thank you for your help,
Kathy Sturdivant

Kathy,
Sorry but I'm just now seeing this as it went to my spam folder.  I cannot take him but can and will ask my other rescue contacts to help if he still needs a place to go.  Let me know and I'll do my best to find him a foster home.

Shonda,

We got your name and email address from the Coast to Coast web site.  We found a dachshund in Olathe, KS at the corner of 135th St and Pflumm St.  He is a neutered male with red dapple coloring.  We took him to a vet to have him scanned for a micro-chip and he doesn't appear to have one.  The girl at the front desk of Olathe Animal Hospital seemed to think he could be around 9 years old.  He's really sweet and seems to have been well cared for.  He was wearing a collar but had no tags.  We are posting signs near the area where he was found, hoping that someone is looking for him.  If we get no response to the signs, would you be able to take him?  As sweet as he is, our own dog died a month ago and our family just isn't ready for another dog yet, so we don't feel keeping him is an option.  We've also called the Olathe and Overland Park shelters to see if anyone had contacted them about him and left a description of him with them just in case someone might call.

We would prefer to have him go to a dachshund rescue like Coast to Coast because, with his age, it might be difficult to get him adopted at a shelter.  The local shelters are no-kill, but the Animal Hospital receptionist said that if they fill up, there is still the possibility he may be euthanized.  We want him to have the best opportunity at finding a loving home, and hope that Coast to Coast could provide it.

Please let me know if you would be able to take him if we don't get any response from the signs or area shelters.

Thank you,
Kathy Sturdivant
