Re: [boxer lovers] "breeder" problem, next level

It isn't that 'they are supposed to have' certain problems that don't face the fawns or brindles"
It is that they are more prone to deafness; and more sensitive to weather extremes particularly to the sun - they can burn quickly and easily; they can suffer sun-stroke and heat exhaustion - easier than the fawn and/or brindle, and oft times new owners (I hate that word!) are not warned to take necessary precautions.
I worked for a vet in my younger days and thankfully nowadays people are much more aware of the issues their pets can suffer from.  But we saw 'most of it" in the whites - some were deaf - but not a huge percentage; skin cancer at that time was more prevalent and worrisome and educating people to take similar precautions that they would with a young child in the bright sun. Lotion that is safe on a dog; cover up; but mainly it is best to eave them indoors during the bright part of the day and do your walking and such in the cool of the early morning or evening - the same as you would for yourself.
Great caution should be taken when playing near the water of course - like throwing the ball into the lake time and again with doggie-friend racing around in the SUN - and only thinking to yourself that he is cooling down in the water - but wait a minute!  is his skin burning!!
I guess I am a bit anal at just wanting to remind people of the care needed.

Had a white boxer, she had no problems they are supposed to have  and she even liked laying in the sun. Wasn't deaf, an all around good dog and she was a rescue. Since we didnt know her exact age we had to guess but she lived at least 12 years. Awesome dog!

Actually, one of the major foundation (German) dogs in Boxer history (20s-30s) was a white Boxer. AKC allowed white boxers to be registered, it was the ABC (American Boxer Club) that banned them, and for the longest time, white Boxers were to just be left behind at the vets at the 3 day check, dew claw and tail snips. Luckily at that time, none of my 2 litters I bred had any whites.

Thankfully, that rule has been changed, but with an absolute no breeding registration given with them and the breeder is only to charge "costs" for a white. And while some are deaf, not all are and any long time Boxer owner (like Karon is) can easily handle the restrictions on boxers and weather.

Is it a white Boxer you are looking at?? I wouldn't recommend that.
White is not even a recognized colour in the Boxer breed; white is super
sensitive to weather - they sun burn easily; they cannot tolerate the cold;
the are prone to skin cancer, and they often become, or already are, deaf!
I know I will get slammed by 'white' breeders, but at the same time, they
cannot deny what I say is true.
It can end up being a very costly venture.
There are lots of reputable breeders of fawns (of varying shades!) and
Brindles - of varying patterns and shades,
I urge you to put aside your longing for a puppy and take a bit more time
rather than jumping in because you are so hurt.
I would also report her to the local police and take her to Small Claim
Court and request not only your money back but your costs, and some
compensation for other expenses and for your emotional distress.
Whatever you decide, I wish you the very best of luck.
Let 'us' know how things turn out for you!
