Re: [boxer lovers] Re: Crate Size for Adult Boxer

Some of that is going to depend on the size your boxer is going to get. Yeah the standard says 25" but boxers are ‎generally taller now from breeding And good nutrition (just like people!!). Did you see mom or dad? Or are you still in contact with the breeder and can find out?

Generally I'd look for a 42 long x 30 wide x 28 high. IF your dog came from taller stock, you might want to get a taller one.

DO NOT leave your dog alone in a crate until you KNOW they will accept it. A dog prying it's way out of a crate can be seriously hurt or even killed (for example if they get their head and throat hung up in the top).

So what's the right size, Large or X-Large?

My puppy is quickly outgrowing the medium cage and I want to make sure I buy the correct size.  Since most female adult boxers are 24" at the shoulders, I imagine that, when seated, their head would be more than 25" high.  However, I don't want to buy one that's too big if the Large is sufficient.
