It is never too late but you’ll need to start slow to teach them the crate is a good place. Best way to do that is to tempt them in with a treat, one they ONLY receive IN the crate. This is, again, where Kongs come in VERY handy. I helped a neighbor train her Lab this way. I told her to buy the Kongs, put Peanut butter in them and freeze them and NEVER to give them to the dog unless she was crated. Now, the instant I bring out the kong, that dog goes running, excited, to the crate and waits patiently to be served her kong!!
