Re: [boxer lovers] Re: New Boxer puppy

That is not always true of Cane Corsos.  I have had a Cane Corso for the past 15 years.  Aslan is out 3rd Cane Corso. I also have boxers.  Cane Corso's must be raised right for temperament.  All three of mine have been weary of new pups.  the adjustment period was quite long.  Do not think that just because it is a puppy your Corsi will be more accepting as this is not the case.  We had to slowly introduce our puppies to the group.  Cane Corso's are great dogs as I will always have one and I will always have a boxer.  I do not find Corso's to be very much like boxers.  They are very loving and I will agree with territorial and dominant.  They will not back down from a stand off at all.  Training is an ABSOLUTE must with this breed.  Please be very careful introducing the new pup.  I learned the hard way from first time experience introduction puppies to Corsi.  It is not easy.

I call my Cane Corso my Boxer with teeth.  We had gotten her bc the house we used to live in kept getting broken into & the police wouldn't do anything about it so I got a guard dog and a safe.   Corsos actually have a very similar personality to Boxers except that they are always dominant and very territorial.   I actually had to work with a trainer to tone her attitude down a bit and she is much less aggressive now but doesn't like other dogs coming onto her property.   I think she will be more accepting of a puppy bc it's a baby but I'm sure our first few days will be spent trying to make peace.
