If I'm not mistaken, that is fairly normal. Two years ago we brought a puppy in as a foster. My Maggie wanted nothing to do with her and she growled at her. I had never heard Maggie growl before, so I was concerned. I mentioned it to one of my vets and she said it was a really good thing because Maggie was teaching her boundaries. My sister's senior and my neighbors' senior also growled at her. My little Gabby is amazing with other dogs now. She's a typical young crazy boxer that totally wants to box and play with every dog she meets, yet she is very gentle when she introduces herself to a new dog. It's so cute. Even small dogs, she crouches all the way down, shakes her butt and waits for the other dog to give her the ok to approach. And only when the other dog indicates he/she wants to play in the manner she likes to does she go into full boxer play.
Maggie accepted Gabby and while they were never best buds, they did snuggle from time to time and Maggie stopped growling at her after a few months. Their age difference was pretty significant though as Maggie was 11 years old when Gabby was 11 weeks old. I think I forgot to mention that Gabby became a foster fail.

I'm am watching them but honestly she's not that affectionate with him. She's just barely tolerating him because she knows that what I want. She's not giving him kisses or anything like that. She actually growls if he bugs her too much sooooo....... Don't think she'll be licking his ears or any other part of him any time soon. LOL
