Re: Dachshund In pain?

Just call the vet and tell him or her what you told us. In the
meantime, keep your dachsie quiet and in a confined space so he can't
move much. Be extremely careful lifting him so you don't stress his
back at all.

My own dachsie had an accident---fell down the outside stairs---and
literally started screaming. My mom quickly called me to come home
from work, and then sat with my dachsie on the stairs, holding her
still so she didn't hurt herself any further (my mom was in her 80s at
the time and couldn't lift a standard dachsie who weighed 22 pounds).
I carefully picked her up and we rushed to the vet. Turns out she had
severely sprained a ligament in her hind leg---the equivalent of a
human suffering an ACL injury. She was put on anti-inflammatories and
pain relief and we kept her quiet for several weeks. It gradually
healed and she was fine afterwards.

Let us know what the vet says.
