To the Group:
As you all know there has been years of studies that are still being done
as to the efficacy of having Booster vaccinations *after* the final one
given at a year of age.
I have attached a PDF file of one current study and the report of the
findings. I urge you all to read it very carefully but to pay particular
attention to pages 5 on, where* Parvovirus* vaccination is covered.
Yes - our pets require the initial set of vaccinations and that should
always include the Parvo shot. My vet friend who has researched this since
the late 1960s believes firmly in the 8 week, 12 week, 6 month and a final
Booster at 1 year. After that - no other vaccinations are required. His
point again - do we give our children and the ourselves, boosters on an
  annual basis?
We can all form our own opinion, but at least these articles and studies
performed in scientific clinics and universities offer us the opportunity
  of making *informed* choices.
My own experience in breeding - since 1969 - has shown that my dogs are
stronger, healthier, stable personalities, etc. since I began following my
vet friends advise in the late 1970s early 1980s.
I have never had any of the diseases in our breeding program and I always
suggest new families do their research and I give them a copy of this
Article and 1 or 2 others, so they do have 'choices'. I do not tell them
what to do; I only suggest and recommend.
I know this is long reading but it is so important that I wanted to submit
it, even thou9gh many breeders already follow this protocol.
Parvo flares up in certain areas but is not at this time anywhere near
  being epidemic, I am told.
