URGENT SENIOR DACHSHUND IN NEED (Baltimore, MD area)
My name is Brandi LaGrange. My cousin, James Doster, and I, found a dachshund wandering the streets earlier today. We picked up the dog, and attempted to return him to his owner.
The male owner proceded to pick the dog up by his neck, and throw him into the house. Obviously very upset, we spoke to the owner's wife and she begged us to take the dog, by the name of Tucker. She said the owner abuses him.
Tucker is 15 years old. He is extremely malnurished, almost completely deaf, and has horrible tooth decaying. However he has a beautiful and sweet temperament, and is not aggressive at all dispite his horrible life. He has not been neutered.
We have three female dogs ourselves, that is why we know we can not keep Tucker because they will not get along, and our dogs are big and will probably hurt Tucker if let loose.
Anyway, seeing Tucker's condition, my cousin and I took him to Banfield Pet Hospital in Towson, which is the vet we take our three dogs to. We wanted to check his condition and see if he was in ok health. He had a look over, had all his systems checked, and we had his blood drawn. Despite his distreatment, the vet determined he was in pretty good health, other than his horrible teeth. His bloodwork all came back ok. I am not sure of his past vaccinations, and have no other information other than what was told to us. The vet gave him some antibiotics for his teeth, which we are currently giving to him to try to help his mouth infection.
We are giving him high calorie food as suggested and are doing our best to nurse him back to health as best as we can, but we can not care for him long and he deserves a good home. He may need further workup for his tooth condition.
Please, Please contact us if you can do anything for him. He is the sweetest dog and deserves a better life.
Thank you in advance.
-Brandi
