Subject: RE: Downed Doxie at HAS
I think Chase Animal Clinic knows the skinny on him - broken/fractured back - total devastated spine - no hope - dead spinal cord. He needs to get out of the shelter as we have a lot of cold in the air right now. It's horrible with the humidity of May and the first of June. He is peeing and pooping though which is very good! He'll be a little trooper in his wheelchair
From: Karen Borden <karen@karenbordensells.com> Subject: Re: UPDATE ON DOWNED DOXIE IN HUNTSVILLE, AL
WE HAVE A TEMP FOSTER HOME - TEMP - let me reiterate - TEMP!!!! ONLY TEMP! But he is safe! Safe! Safe! The wonderful, wonderful, WONDERFUL Director of Peace, Love and Animals has taken this baby - TEMPORARILY!!!! YAY ROSE!!!!!!!!!!! Can you say THANK YOU PLA!!!!!!!!! Woohoo! This is a good day for me! And PLA is one of the most awesome rescues I have ever worked with!
However, we STILL must have a rescue for him - or a permanent home. PERIOD! Rose is only temporary - and THANK YOU to Melissa Bagwell's friend who got him from the shelter here to Rose. AND - thank you BUNCHES BUNCHES BUNCHES to Jolene from Huntsville Animal services who worked SO HARD to save this angel!
Now - again - having said all that - Zero (we are changing his name as this reminds me of what his former owner thought of him - zero, nothing, nada) still needs a really good home or a rescue who specializes in this. We are working a couple different situations and will keep EVERYONE posted. And again - THANK YOU ALL for working so hard to take care of a sweet angel who did not deserve what he got; but ended up with so many people who care so much about him! Keep me posted on ANY permanent situations you may have for him.

We could get him transferred to a vet clinic and garner donations for his boarding until he can get to his rescue or foster parent. The problem, though, is two-fold: we don't have a firm commitment from any rescuer or foster; and it's the 4th of July weekend. All the vets are booked (we MAY have a chance at the vet clinic that was his vet, but I DON'T want to send him there for his previous owner to know where he is!). And - without a firm commitment from a rescuer or foster home, he could stay at the vet forever - and who is going to pay for all of that?
At least we know the entire outlook now. He CAN be a HAPPY, HAPPY, HAPPY BOY with diapers and a wheelchair!!!!
HERE IS THE MADE UP STORY BELOW****THESE PEOPLE NEED TO BE PROSECUTED****BUT I AM TOLD THERE IS NO PROOF :( On Jun 30, 2011, at 8:47 PM, Karen Borden wrote: OK - I have the complete "scoop" on this little angel. Vet was Chase Animal Hospital here. The grandfather is the one who took the dog to the vet; supposedly, Zero (that's his name) was jumping up to get a bird and "twisted" his back. The vet said crate rest and meds first - surgery if it didn't work.
It didn't work - BUT owner (again - DNA KIMBERLY COGGINS, 120 TRES DRIVE, HUNTSVILLE, AL), didn't "want to crate" so she left in kitchen. Well - we who have doxies and know doxies and have been thru bad back doxies KNOW they have to be crated! "kitchens" don't work. Then, I understand it got "past the point" where surgery is probably an option - so vet said "put in diapers and get a wheelchair". Owner NOT willing to do that - instead took him to shelter.
Again - he probably would need a professional opinion as far as whether surgery would help or not, but it's my understanding he's been this way for 28 days!!!!!
We can figure transportation if someone is willing to take this boy in and probably give him a permanent home.

"I FOUND THEM A HOME. . . . I CAN FIND YOU ONE TOO!" On Jun 30, 2011, at 12:30 PM, Karen Borden wrote: Folks - we have an URGENT situation at the shelter here in Huntsville. This WITCH, Kimberly Coggins, Huntsville, AL has just DUMPED her downed doxie (pic below) at Animal Services. She "can't afford" the surgery and "hoped" he would get better on meds. He went from bad to worse and is now completely down. According to her story to Animal Services, her vet (which I don't have that info yet) told her he needs surgery and a wheel chair because, by now, he won't walk again (then I have no idea what the surgery would be for??). Probably has no bladder control either. So - she can't take care of HER dog - so as usual, she dumps it on someone else to be euthanized.
Animal Services said his personality is WAY too sweet (and he is only 4 years old) to euthanize - but they will have no choice unless they can find a rescue or a permanent home for him. As we all know - rescues aren't rolling in money -- and then you have to find the foster home who can foster him while he recuperates. Is there anyone out there willing to take him in (we can all help solicit for donations -I'm sure someone on here knows how to set up a "chipped in" account) - and does someone have the spot for him?
I am working on getting her address. She needs to be put on EVERYONE'S DNA list. She will try to adopt another dog from SOMEWHERE - of that I am certain - because according to animal services, her daughter was crying when they left him there. She will look for a replacement dog.
JEAN/TONI/CINDY/CONNIE - please make sure the Humane Society has her name as a DNA. I don't know who to contact there now for that. Karen Borden President Dixie Dachshund Rescue

The first step to improving your kitchen is to determine which type of person you are and plan accordingly. There are plenty of kitchen countertops materials to choose from and there are good looking but cheaper alternatives to granite and polished marble if you want a stunning kitchen.
