At the BOTTOM of this post are the last 2 of 5 doxie AC brought out from the breeder/puppymill. Local AC is shutting her down, but are trying to do so in stages.... trying NOT to dump the +150 dogs (some doxies, mostly shitzus, poodles & "designer" mixes) on rescues or the shelter all at once because they know what would happen in that instance. Original requester of doxie resq help, Nancy is apparently well known in the local area for all-breed rescue efforts & is trying to work with the ACOs. She is fostering a piebald poodle & the doxies for the pound, courtesy posting them on her own group's website.... & also handling some basic vax/worming/flea-tick. BUT these furkids & those still at the breeder will need actual, placing rescues in the very near future. The breeder is in WAY over her head (grrr) and can't keep what she has for long. As much as they are trying to help & to work w/ rescues, I personally doubt AC will let her continue since the breeders family is no longer willing to help with care & funds for food are drying up fast. :o(( I know the deal sucks... but after getting all these details from Nancy, I wanted to give everyone a heads up (gee thanks you say, right?) about what the situation was. I can help with transport up 95 to points north on most every weekend. If we time it right & receiving group can pay (they will bill DRNA though), I might even be able to arrange cheap-er vetting (s/n/dental, etc) at my vet with Nancy's help getting them up to me mid-week. So far... THE DOXIES appear to be mini-minis & tweenies... mostly wirehair & longhairs... fairly young (2 to 4 yo).... not altered yet... 50/50 on need for a dental thus far. Reportedly on HW preventative & expected to test HW neg... will have HW status on the first 2 (already in resq) by tomorrow. Very shy & timid at first, but not nippy or aggressive at all.... will cuddle in your lap as long as they are allowed, but wont come & ask to be held like some weenies. They get along with other dogs & presumably cats... but haven't formally cat tested anyone. Prob OK with older, dog-savvy children, but maybe not with small kids at first due to shyness & teeny-tiny size.  <----- photo of 7lb mini-doxie "Cherry" (already pulled by resq) & my personal doxie Ginger, taken 2 min after they met each other ~Katie
