Re: [boxer lovers] Re: Boxer puppy

KEY EXAMPLE WHY YOU NEVER EVER USE A CHAIN LEASH WITH A DOG!!!

You were lucky that's all that happened. They're just so big, muscular and goofy they cam get very carried away. So, best to Immediately come down in them with your "Alpha is NOT amused" voice.

My 90 lb big guy has come charging into the house and nearly taken out my knees on several occasions. I've learned to stand behind the door. The worst injury happened after we first rescued him and we were tying him when we went outside until we could determine if he'd take off. One day, I'd just got the hook onto his collar. He saw a chipmunk and bolted. I couldn't move fast enough to get the rope from around my ankle. This was the result (not for the weak of heart :-)

Lesson learned. They're big pups and don't always know their own power. I could tell he felt really bad and just didn't understand why mom was screaming.

What is cute in a puppy and maybe acceptable with a small poodle (because they can't hurt you as much or be as destructive) is not even a little acceptable in a dog hitting 50 or more pounds with a lot of muscle mass behind them.
