| Beautiful Brindled Chiweenie Needs Rescue! Hello...My name is Bobbie Gehringer. I currently am a Safe Haven foster looking to see if you could possibly be of some help. Back in the end of April, we pulled a very pregnant 3 year old female Doxie/Chihuahua mix) from Mecosta County where they send dogs for research. Lea was picked up living in a van with 2 other dogs. The van owner said they were all strays. (Yeah, right!) We do not temperament test until after the babies have been weaned, and Lea is a fairly typical doxie x, and does not pass. She is very protective, and can be growly with new people, but attaches to one person really well. She is very loving once she gets to know a person. She is also not great with other dogs but she is improving with time. She seems to like small dogs better than large ones. She is currently fostered in my home with 4 others, but growls and snips at them if they get in her face. She is not food aggressive, but can be an attention hog. She seems to be house trained, and does not potty in her crate while I am at work. She will potty inside if left out of a crate, though. Lea has been heartworm tested, and is negative. In addition, she has had her Dhlpp (starter and booster) and Bordatella. She has been wormed right along with the puppies, and is on flea and heartworm preventative. I am wondering if there is any way you might have a place for her in your program. I am sending photos, and I am open to suggestions if you might have any. |
