Sparkles the Polka-Dot Chihuahua mix: Sparkles is so sweet! This little dog reminded me how a dog-lover can be rewarded when practicing time and patience with scared little ones! Poor Sparkles was shy in her kennel, but once I went in and sat with her and gave her a minute, she sniffed and approached me, and eventually she was sitting in my lap and licking my face! This little dog will likely form a very strong bond with the person who gives her a new home, and I think she will make a wonderful little lap dog. Sparkles is content to check out her surroundings but is also very interested in what her person is doing. I hope Sparkles gets a home in which they will give her love and attention accompanied with patience, because once she has your trust, she is the sweetest dog! Sparkles' Weight: 8.6lbs. MONTANA

Shelter Staff Aged Me At: 6 YEARS Montana the Beagle mix: Montana is such a happy go lucky dog! This little girl was a little apprehensive when I first approached her kennel, but after entering it with a leash, she was ready to go out! Montana made a point while we were in the outside yard to sniff out her surroundings but also to check in with me. She frequently came to sit in my lap and get back scratches, then went along her business in the yard. Montana is a really nice, easy-going dog who would make a great pet for anyone willing to give her just a little bit of time to initially adjust. After that, I think Montana will be a loving and eventually outgoing companion!Montana's Weight: 15lbs

3/14/11 Dog warmed up in rehab home but once back at the shelter very fearful and runs away. Needs to go to rescue in a home environment were she will be more relaxed. Went back to foster on 5/20/11 but was to fearful and aggressive to in house dog. We have spayed her and she needs to be rescued by 5/28/11. Dickinson

This 6 year old female Beagle is small and cute with good manners except food aggression. She passed every other behavior test but attempted to bite the hand with the food test. I later went into her cage and put my hand in her bowl with no reaction, she can be hand fed by me as well. Because of unpredictability with food she is a fail and needs rescue by 5/28/11 Dickinson

Shelter Staff Aged Me At: 1 YEAR 
This young approximately 1 year old intact male Beagle Mix is very timid. He failed his behavior test due to his growling and showing teeth when approached. I took him out of his cage today and he warmed up to me with no aggression shown, was fearful at first. He needs to get out of the shelter environment where he can relax and build trust again. He was calm and relaxed after spending time with me. He will be held for rescue until 5/28/11 Dickinson. | |

Shelter location: 3839 Bradshaw Road, Sacramento, CA 95827 (south of Hwy 50). Shelter Hours: Mon/Tues Closed
Wed-Fri 12:30 - 5:30 pm
Sat-Sun 12:00 - 4:30 pm * When pulling an animal, please try arrive at least one hour before closing time to allow ample time to process the paperwork.
