[boxer lovers] Boxers in rescue

Maybe I spend too much time on "The Facebook," but I'm seeing more and more boxers showing up in shelters, looking for homes. I know some are coming from puppy mills and there's little we can do - except NOT buying from per shops (except for the ones doing "rescue placements," NOT buying from people we don't know online (a LOT of those are, unfortunately, puppy mills - they've just found a different per shop"), don't breed ourselves unless we are actively involved‎ in the breed betterment. Yes I'm geared toward the "show" breeders, but they ARE working toward the standard. What I'd like to see is what the Belgian breeders advocate "A dog isn't a champion without honors on BOTH sides of their name." Belgian Tervs, Malinois, Shepherds are expected to both go for their Championship (conformation) AND performance (obedience, agility etc) . And to be true considered the best for breeding, that's what the Belgian people look for.

So, if you're looking for another Boxer, don't breed. First, I guarantee you will NOT duplicate the dog you have. Just as YOUR children are their own particular person, each Boxer is different. Secondly, there's A Boxer, somewhere, looking for the special home YOU can provide.

My 2 cents for what it's worth.
