Since I have to be at the hospital at 5:30 in the morning to get my artificial knee prosthetic BACK in, figured I should send out an update on all that I have written about lately.
For those who don't know Wayne and Jim, a friend of ours, took our camper down to Sherri & Jeff this past Saturday. Their power company had scheduled to come in on Tuesday to get the power hooked up for the camper, Monday a week ago. Well, someone came this Tuesday, but he was only to make the decision on WHERE the pole should go, not to do it. They were then told they would be out yesterday to put it in, not happened yet!!!!!!! Jeff's been charging the camper battery with their van so they do have lights, just can't use the microwave and the electric coffee pot and so on. The stove is gas so it works, and of course the heat is gas so it works, just no blower to help circulate the heat, but still get the radiating heat from the vents.
As I mentioned a couple days ago, one of their kitties has shown up. They suspect one of their missing dogs is in the area as one of their baby goats was found dead, been eaten on. They had two dogs that could jump a 4' fence. They don't feel it was a coyote due to the way it was eaten on, but not torn and ripped and none was drug off. No spotting of the dog though.
Sherri & Jeff are so astounded and appreciative of everything, no matter what, items, clothing, money and all, that those of you have sent to help them get through after the loss of everything in their house fire. The Boxer Internet Community is so GREAT.
My Mom's hip was pinned with a rod on Monday. Yesterday she was moved to a rehab center for a couple weeks. Supposedly they have equipment at the rehab center to help her gain her mobility and strength that home care PT and OT couldn't do at my SIL's house. We'll see. It is really rough on her as her right leg/foot has neuropathy which makes it hard to control at times, most likely the cause of her fall, and of course the broken hip is on the left side. Very worrisome.
My Uncle Enloe had his hip replaced on Sunday afternoon. His biggest issue was going pee after surgery for a couple days and having to have a catheter inserted every time his bladder got full. They didn't take him back to the same nursing home where he and his wife, Aunt Dot, shared a room, but to a supposedly better place with rehab center, same as where my Mom is.
Aunt Dot wound up being admitted to the hospital on Tuesday as her blood sugar was bottoming out as she wasn't eating good and was worried about where Uncle Enloe was and all. She is supposed to be going to the same rehab center as my Mom and Uncle in the next day or two.
And finally, as I said at the top, I have to be at the hospital at 5:30 tomorrow morning for my surgery scheduled for 7:30. They'll be taking out the concrete spacer thing that they put in when they removed the knee prosthesis in October last year after the replacement had gotten infected that had been put in on 27 Sep last year, and I was put on the horrible antibiotic that caused the kidney and heart issues. Thankfully both my heart and kidneys have repaired and now I can get the prosthesis, artificial knee, back in so that I can once again start walking, get out of this awful wheelchair! I know it is going to be a tough and long recovery before I can walk any distance and do a lot, but I'm sure ready to work on that. Even though I have done isometric exercises and range of motion as much as possible with the concrete and all, I know my muscle strength is not where it was by any means, and was weaker even before surgery due to the pain and inability to do much for so long before the knee replacement in Sep. Just keep me in your thoughts and prayers that there is NO infection this time around which is what worries me the most. sigh:::
Hopefully I'll get to come home on Sunday, Monday at the latest for therapy at home and then at a close facility. All is already set up for home health nursing, PT & OT to come here to the house. So, I should only be away from all of you for a few days, with limited periods of time sitting at the computer desk, but still back. Will give update as soon as I can
For anyone who wants to call, my home number is below, and my cell, which will be in bed with me at the hospital, is 937-245-0496.
