We actually have occasionally asked ourselves that question. But, TBH, if there were no puppies and this was a scam, it was elaborate! We chatted on facebook nearly every day from the time I laid claim to one of the puppies in an upcoming littler. For the next 4 weeks, we chatted multiple times a day. She was sending pics & videos from the moment he was born via emergency c-section (at 68 days). The very first picture I have of Mutiny (yes, he was already named when he was born) was of him snuggled in her bosom, peeping out from the V-neck. That was at the vet. Mutiny was delivered first and handed to her to keep warm while the 4 stillborns, the single littermate were delivered and the dam was tended.
The chats went on until I was sent to the hospital for emergency back surgery. One of my vertebra, apparently, had been I the process of crumbling for the last 4 years and finally disintegrated. We were having postal problems, the money order was missing, having been mailed 3 weeks prior. I went in hospital Jan 30th. She had received the mangled priority mail envelope (seriously, the pics she sent me!) on Jan 29 including pictures of the envelope and even a close up of the money order, itself, in her hand. The MO was cashed on Feb 2.
I did not hear from her again until Feb 16. I know I had tried to contact her in that time, Denver posted to the chat to tell her what happened. I tried to get her to talk to me with no response. I don't remember any of it and only know because it was in the chat log (as is every communication we had, lol).
Finally, on the 16th, she sends me one message. That she had been tearing herself up for two weeks to figure out how o tell me he was dead. We don't know when it happened, she never told me that. but, presumably sometime around the time I went into hospital and she cashed the MO.

If I lived in Alabama, I would be tempted to take this on. What comes to my mind is -- did she ever really have any puppies? On Craigslist, there is a scam that happens -- advertising a dog, cat, bird or whatever and the person just happens to be in a different state. Then as part of this scam, they ask for $$ to transport the animal to you. Seems that this person might be doing another scam

I like having the group. While I have been remiss, it is good to have the semi privacy to be able to talk and be open and honest. Like, about breeders who steal money. is thee anyone in Alabama who would be willing to act as my agent in a case? For health reason, I cannot travel. This woman stole nearly $1000 from me by selling a puppy which conveniently died at 5 weeks. Her opinion was, health 'guarantee' notwithstanding, I was just sol. Seems, in her world, if you pay for a puppy at 4-5 week you then own and are responsible for the dog at that young age. And should 'things' happen to young puppies, like, they mysteriously die, well, since she already has my money and her 'policy' is that she doesn't refund and, besides, it was my dog that died. Just as if the dog had been my dog who, at 5 YEARS old had died. Except of course, I had never even shared the state with this dog.
Besides the fact that it was already my dog and her policy was not to refund, well, her mother was a widow (of 5 years) and her brother was dead (car crash 7 years previous) and these tragedies entitled her to keep my money, as well….
I want my money back and any legal headaches and financial costs we can create for this little immoral, unethical creature are bonuses.
Any takers?

I do not post much, but I prefer groups rather than face book

As much as I like Facebook, I want to still see these Yahoo groups continue, especially this one. Someone needs to let FB people know these Yahoo groups are available for those who want to share things on them as well.
