Blacktip Reef's First Birthday
Can you believe it's already been a year since the opening of Blacktip Reef? On August 8, the National Aquarium is celebrating its 33rd birthday and the first anniversary of the Blacktip Reef exhibit. The 270,000-gallon replication of an Indo-Pacific reef is home to 779 animals representing 70 different species, including blacktip reef sharks, clown triggerfish, tasseled wobbegongs, a humphead wrasse, stingrays, a 500-pound green sea turtle and more.
Celebrate these milestones with us at the Aquarium, or get an up-close view of Blacktip Reef at home, in real-time, with our Shark Cam.
