Re: [boxer lovers] rabies

since
the law states every  3 years for a rabie vaccine in your state, have you never thought of getting a titer like vets do every year until the law requires one ?. Vacs for rabies  usually last people their whole life ?just asking. Do you think your dogs rabie vacs stops working in  1 year?  How many pets do you have in your state that are not being vaccinated and get rabies and bites someone? If  the pet bites someone doesn't mean you have to get a rabie vaccine . Those are very painful to humans. My dog bit someone and she didn't get rabie vaccines. She already had 1 as the law requires  3 years ago any way. vet and techs  have 1 vacs and then titer every 3 years. Im glad I don't live there . We have very little rabies here. maybe 1 every 10 years from foxes and we send bait out to foxes to eat and get protected . Never heard of livestock here ever getting rabies .mostly bats

I live in texas and I not only vaccinate my dogs every year I vaccinate my horses.this is not done to keep the vet in business but because rabies is very prevalent in my area.i keep my dogs in a fenced in yard but it is not uncommon for skunks to find their way into the yard.and of course the dogs will go after them.i should say just one of my dogs does the other has enough sense to stay away from the smelly things.rabies is such a deal where I live that they even report it in the paper so that people know where and what had rabies.the vet always post this in the waiting room of his clinic so that every one can read it.the sad thing is its not always wildlife that has it. most of the time they are reporting a pet has it and that someone has to undergo the shots after being bitten by the animal.kathi
