[boxer lovers] Re: New Boxer puppy

Thanks Sandra.   I'm glad to hear from someone else who has a Corso.  I love my Corso dearly but truth be told the only reason we became involved with the breed was to protect our house since the police refused to help with the situation of our home being repeatedly broken into.  What I meant when I said Corsos are similar to Boxers is that they are extremely intelligent,  have an almost human like quality,  are very loyal and mine at least,  likes to always be touched.   For example,  if she's sitting next to me and I'm not petting her, she'll often start with s moany growl type sound and also will use her paw to try to pull my hand to her or headbutt me.  But Boxers have been my favorite breed since I got Hogan 15 years ago.
I do expect there to be a tough transition period but she will learn to accept him.  I'm hoping the baby card works in his favor.   Last year, my daughter found a baby deer and Maya was very kind to her while she was with us so hoping for the same with Levi.  The good news is I have a very good trainer I'll be working with for obedience and if there are adjustment issues,  I'm sure he'll be able to give advice there too.  As I'm sure you know,  with a Corso,  you do have to have a very experienced trainer and this guy really helped me tone down her aggression bc at first. I couldn't let anyone in my house.   Mel (the trainer) showed me what I (not Maya) was doing wrong and now she is fine with people who come over as long as we accept them.  She's a bit of an attention hog but it's actually cute and all our guests are very taken by her.   Since you have been where I'm about to go though,  any advice or experience you can pass on,  I would very much welcome.
