[boxer lovers] RE: Dog coats

Start by cutting along the seam on the back of the shirt, about 2 inches away from it (more or less depending on the size of the dog) this can be trimmed after trying on the dog if too long at the sides. Cut up to about 6 inches from the neck, then across to the other seam and  then back down. Then take the 6 inches by the neck and make a large dart, this is the part that will go across the dogs chest, so measure the dogs chest and make the width of this part about 2 inches bigger than dogs chest from seam to seam, with your dart. Now cut the arms of the sweat shirt off keeping in mind they have to be kind of short to keep the dog from stepping out of it. You'll have to close up the armholes some as they are usually too big, just lay arm flat at seam and sew along current seam and remove excess. Then lay the shirt from neck to rear on the dogs back and see if you need to cut any length off, or put shirt on the dog to measure length. (If your shirt is too short you can use some of what you cut off the back and arms to make strips to add to the length.)   If the neck of the shirt is too loose on the dog just make another dart on the front of the shirt at the neck to tighten it up. The front of the shirt goes on the dogs back. I added a picture in the group photos for reference. Tammy
