The last one hits home so strongly because we put down my beautiful, so loved, rommell two weeks ago.
The world is such a sad place without him. The light is gone from my world.
He looked in my eyes, for a long time, right before they put him to rest.
Some people say he was saying goodbye, because he knew.
I don't think he could ever have thought we would do that to him, because he knew how much we loved him.
I don't know what the look meant, I wish I did. But I do know, for me, I did all 20 of those things, and more. He deserved all he got and more. He wasn't just a beautiful companion.
He was a warrior, a protector, and a friend. There was never a doubt I was safe in his paws. There is no doubt he would give his life for me.
And I would have done the same for him.
I hope he forgives me if he was wrong to let him go. I did it to help him, to give him back to the God who gave him to me.
And I pray he waits for me because if I knew I would never see him again, my life would never have joy again.
The final gift he gave me, was to leave me quietly and respectfully, like he lived. And sometimes I still feel his presence, cause he knows if he wasn't still here sometimes, the hurt would be too great to bear.
My beautiful, white rommell, run with your brother my dear friend. I am getting old and my days are coming to an end too. You and your brother's face are the first faces I want to touch on the other side.
Please, please wait for me.
