RE: [boxer lovers] My boxers

My youngest daughter, Laura, found these dogs.  Her baby, my youngest grandchild Willow,  will be one the end of May.  Instead of buying the baby gifts my daughter wants everyone to make donations of money or needed things to an animal shelter. She was looking for the right shelter she feels needs the most help.  She found the one is Ashtabula, site she was checking the site she saw the dogs and sent me the pictures. When the invitations to the baby's party went out Laura sent a list of what the shelter needs and where to send the money.  We, both my daughters and I, went to see the boxers it was love at first sight.  Their names are Yukon, the male and Gemini the female.  Thar was their names and I saw no reason to change them.  Some man had taken them for 3 weeks from another shelter then brought them to this one, said they needed to much attention and had accidents, separation anxiety.  I think he may have brought them back because they
were sick.  My vet put them on antibiotics, they don't have accidents now that they are well, there is no real separation problems, they know when I walk out the door for work they get 1/2 a hot dog, all three dogs like me to leave.  love those hot dogs!  Yes they need and get LOTS of attention.

Hi Nana,

Bless you for taking a pair. I happened upon my Maggie when I went to a
shelter to pull a boxer that was said to be 5-6 years old and was going to
be put down the next day. I had convinced my husband to allow me to pull
that one dog with the promise that I would find a home for it within two
weeks. Mind you, he was adamant that he didn't really want a dog and
DEFINITELY did not want a boxer. When I went to get the one, there was also
this other one estimated to be 6-7 years and also scheduled to be put down
the next day. She was also refused due to age, but even worse, I didn't
think I'd be able to find a home for her because she was also emaciated and
so very depressed. When I took her to the vet, I was told she was probably
older than the shelter told me. Long story short, I found a wonderful home
for the younger one and by the time the older one was healthy enough to be
homed we had both fallen hard for her. That was 4 ½ years ago and this tough
old girl is still with us, probably 12 years old now. She turned my husband
into a boxer lover too J

Despite the fact that 5 or 6 may be older for a boxer, you never know
because they can surprise us. And, despite perhaps having had a rough first
half or so of life, as you have witnessed, they just settle in as perfect
family members. They just have a way of completing a family, don't they?

Boxer hugs and kisses,

For the past 3 1/2 years I have had a little boxer girl. She ws found on the
side of a road with a litter of dead puppies. My daughter ended up knowing
the young woman who's sister found her. I took the boxer, Bella in. I had
her fixed and took her to a trainer and she did very well at obedience. The
Vet figured she was 6 when she was found. She is a great dog who is loved by
my whole family and a favorite of my grandkids. 3 weeks ago today I adopted
2 more boxers from a shelter. They needed to be placed together and were
said to be about 5 years old, vet thinks they may be a bit older. I wasn't
looking for another dog but figured they might not get a new home because of
their age and because they are two. They are working out very well. I was
worried about Bella but I have not had any problems. They, all 3, are so
much fun and get along so well. No problem so far.
