Baltimore Whale Cleaning Whale Skeleton Cleaning:
Giving Old Bones a New Look

The construction of National Aquarium, Baltimore's new exhibit, Blacktip Reef, has presented an unique opportunity for Omega, the whale, to receive a proper cleaning. The 5,000-pound skeleton has been hanging high for more than 30 years and has always been a centerpiece in the Baltimore venue.

Earth Hour Earth Hour

The National Aquarium will once again be participating in Earth Hour. Sponsored by World Wildlife Fund, Earth Hour asks individuals, businesses, government leaders and others to turn out all non-essential lighting for one hour as a movement to unite people to protect the planet.

TED National Aquarium at the
TEDxDeExtinction Conference

On March 15, researchers and theorists from around the world gathered at the National Geographic Society in Washington, DC, to discuss the real possibility of bringing species like the woolly mammoth, the passenger pigeon and the Cuban red macaw back from extinction. National Aquarium and our blue hyacinth macaw were there!
