Hello all!
I posted here a little over a month ago about a medical crisis I was having with my boxer Rocky. I adopted him from a rescue shelter almost years ago. He is missing his front left leg due to a neglect and abuse incident with his previous owners. And due to damage in the shoulder area he was in danger of losing his remaining front leg. :(
I have been able to scrape together over $3,400 of the $8,300 needed to cove all of these surgery expenses (including lab feeds, meds and post-op). With advice from friends I also started an online fundraiser for him via a service called "FundRazr", where we have raised a staggering $4,500 for Rocky! :) We are now a mere $400 or so away from having ALL of Rocky's fees covered. This is truly astonishing to me and has given me a renewed faith in humanity. People are awesome. Especially when we rally behind one of our fur friends.
I'm also happy to update that Rocky's initial surgery has been scheduled for March 11! Even though we're still about $400 short of all of the fees we've already raised more than enough for the vet and clinics to be completely on board and ready to help Rocky. So, he'll soon be getting a new shoulder and re-worked ligaments that, once healed, will make his remaining from leg stronger than it ever was, and should last him the rest of his days (he's only about 3 or 4).
I'm so very happy that this is happening, and so very thankful to everyone who contributed (I'm sure there were some from his Yahoo! group) and on behalf of Rocky I sincerely THANK everyone for their support. We absolutely could not have made this happen without you.
