My Boxer had solid red in the white of one eye….doctor tested her and she had Immune-Mediated Thrombocytopenia, her immune system was attacking her body…her blood platelet count was 27, 000 ….should be 175,000 to 500,00…so she really did not have enough platelets to keep her from bleeding out….The blood in the eye and in tiny pin-spots inside her ears and on her tummy were where the blood was coming to the surface of her body.

This tells a little about it….google for more information.
She is on Prednisone and antibiotics and is doing well at the moment. Since that has started she got a fungal infection in one toe/pad and has had a terrible time with that….finally had to take that toe off, so now she can walk normally and seems to be pain free. Biopsies were sent in for this, and then referred tone specialist who then referred us to another specialist…she said that this fungal infection is "very, very, very rare" and she is now taking a special medicine for this. She is a dear friend and I am doing all I can to care for her. She had no cancer cells in this toe, thanks goodness. She had a very large mass-cell tumor come up on her hind leg three weeks after I got her. The vet had examined her three days before and just could not believe that this tumor came up so fast….she had surgery and so far that has not come back.
I pray that we have no more problems….
Beth

An Immune problem? Is that connected to eye problems somehow?
