Welcome to the wonderful world of boxers! Until 2 years ago, I was the same as you - had many breeds (did a lot of rescue/foster) but never a boxer. My boyfriend (now husband) told me all about boxers and we adopted/rescued at 15 week old (in March of 2000). She just turned 2 on 12/26. We have done a year of training with her and she is now certified CGC (canine good companion via AKC) and TDI (therapy dogs international) registered. We have started our own branch of the Thera-Pits here in the Akron, Ohio area. She has been unbelievably easy to train and has the perfect personality/temperament for what we do. I highly recommend lots of training (which will cement your bond), and find a "job" your boxer can do to keep him busy. They are high energy dogs that need plenty of exercise (both physical and mental). Be careful though. Boxers are like potato chips - you can't have just one! ;o)

Hi everyone and Happy New Year . I am new to this group and I have a 10 week old boxer.His name is Manchester. I have owned many dog breeds but never a boxer . He actually is my sons dog but I am raising him.I have 2 cocker spaniels and I wanted another one but my son wanted a great dane ... so he settled for a boxer . Wow what high energy this little guy has. I hope he mellows . It has taken 2 weeks for my cockers to adjust to him and looks like this little guy will be staying.The cocker that will be 10 gets along the best with him.The other that will be 6 is not as tolerant. Any advice would be great . He eats about a cup and a half a day (3x a day)and half of it is kibble and half is raw . He can climb stairs but can't go down and wines like crazy for his food . Anneli
