Looking for hints for potty training a rescue dachshund in his new home

We are adopting a 5 year old male that's been housebroken. Ollie came over Tuesday night with his foster parents and he seems to be a great fit for us. We are retired so he'll get lots of attention and have a daily walk. We've owned mixed breeds before (from the pound) and missed having a dog around.

When he gets to our house there's three doors going outside, so I assume we'll lead him to the backdoor and let him go outside on his own. We have a fenced in backyard but I am not sure its totally dachshund proof so I think its probably wise to keep him on a leash until he gets familiar with our yard and us. Anyway looking for any suggestions to getting us all off on the right foot to ensure his house broken training cycle continues at his new home.

Thanks
Charlie Duckworth
