[boxer lovers] More on Meg and the Hives

Well, we went into the vet, the vet and I ran through all the weirdness
of the cause of her hives and decided the first thing to do was get a
fresh allergen test. The recommendation is about every 3 years if
there's a suspected problem ... and it was January 2010 when Meg's
initial test was run. Gonna have to keep that dog off the doggie medical
sites on the computer. ;-)

The results were back on Saturday but I wasn't able to get to the vet's
to pick them up and with my vet away on vacation and the office
"swamped" no one had had a chance to look them over to see if anything
popped. So, of course, guess who has suddenly NOT been having hives?!?!?
I am clueless. She had a couple of days of minor -- REALLY minor -- hive
activity right after the vet visit and I have maintained her getting
Benadryl at least twice a day (with meals) but, knock on wood (as I
thumped my head!) -- no hives. Nothing has changed around here. She
stopped having them BEFORE the major thaw. So it wasn't something "in
the snow." Hasn't had them during this thaw, so not something just "in
the yard." Nothing has gone OUT of the house.

All I can think is SOMETHING sensitized her and the constant treatment
of the Benadryl helped bring that under control. I'll pick up the
results on Monday morning. I may keep her on the Benadryl for a couple
of more days "just in case," and then see if I can take her off.

Dogs! Gotta love 'em.
