Hi Karon,
You sure seem to know a lot about raw feeding. I've quite a bit on it, but
still am nervous. I didn't do anything raw when Gabby was very much a puppy
because I wasn't certain of her immune system (she broke out into hives
numerous times) and I didn't want to take any chances. When I introduced dog
food at 7 months I got her Stella and Chewy's raw patties. I've given her
some raw meat, but am nervous about getting it right. Do you have
suggestions on how one can safely start introducing a raw diet?
I still cook quite a bit for Gabby and today I bought her 1 ½ lbs of ground
beef plus 1 lb of ground lamb. Normally I would cook this up with some
apples, potatoes and/or sweet potatoes and maybe some carrot or peas and
this would feed her for 2 ½ days. If add some of her orijen kibble, it would
feed her for 3 ½ days. I'm really too nervous to start using raw meaty
bones. Plus I think she's allergic to chicken so necks wouldn't an option.
I'm pretty comfortable using nutritiondata.com to determine the phos amount
on my recipes and adding the required calcium with calcium citrate.
Can I cook the potatoes and apples and mix in the raw meat and feed that to
her? Is it safe if it's in the fridge for 3 days in a Tupperware container?
I do salmon a lot for her as she really likes it. Is it safe to feed that
raw?
