Jeanne,
"Don't be an idiot"? Really? I think Karon made a valid point. I was
going to say much the same but then decided I didn't care that much. Too
much work to worry what someone else is doing with their dogs especially
in two such distant parts of the world.
What was posted was a generic "I need a home for my male boxer." And, if
I was closer to Maine, I might consider giving him a home. I prefer to
have 2 dogs. It lets the dogs have a companion, and, selfishly for me,
when I lose one, there's a second right there to help me over the grief.
I would hope someone gives this boy a home. But your first response was
"I need a breeding male ..." with absolutely no indication you were
willing, ready or able to do some true selection to determine if the dog
in question was a viable "breeding male" ... and I don't mean "intact."
Please understand, we have had (and I believe might still have) a few
"puppy mill" types who have bred anything to anything with absolutely no
consideration as to whether or not the animals in question should be
bred -- other than are there sperm and a uterus.
I'm very happy that you detailed you have some knowledge as to what
SHOULD constitute "a breeding male." Your post to the OP gave no
indication of that at all. Being a member of a club that seeks to do
rescues with limited personnel resources and too many dogs, I'm just
glad when there are people just looking for "breeding" males in my neck
of the woods.
