Never hurt my Vennie and he slurped coffee every chance he got.
Vennie was my last show dog and at shows I'd have a thermos of coffee
and had a favorite green mug (from my childhood) I kept in my tack box.
I have to admit, I had several times thought it odd there seemed to be
less coffee in my mug than I thought there should have been, but never
put it together. Until, at one show, I was watching the classes, waiting
to go in for winner's dog and reached down to the floor for my cup and
started to take a sip. I felt a tap on my shoulder and turned around.
Behind me was a (non-showing) spectator who said "Excuse me. Did you
realize your dog has been drinking out of your cup." Well, no I hadn't,
but now I knew. I thanked her, turned to Vennie and said "Vennie! You
KNOW better than to drink out of my cup! You might get sick!"
I thought the people behind me were going to fall out of their chairs,
laughing.
Now, I wouldn't brew a pot for Satch, or even give him his own cup ...
but a little coffee shouldn't hurt him.
