I LOVE OUR BOXER BABIES! I have only heard THAT bark a couple of times and each time have emphatically thanked God that Heidi is my dog and loves me! ;o)
One night, before she was even a year old, my fiancee' awoke in the middle of the night to a bathroom check. Apparently Heidi hadn't realized he had gotten up. She DID know when he came back in the room! That bark made the hair on my neck stand up! I said "honey, you better speak so she knows it's you"! He did and then all was well, she curled back up and went to sleep like it was normal.

Many years ago my summer job in college was Camp Counselor. I worked
Sunday afternoon until Friday afternoon. A lot of times, we'd just stay
over at camp on Friday night, Do a morning ride with the staff before
taking "free time." This was the last week, so we definitely did the
last ride. My folks were going out of town, but I didn't want to miss
the last ride. So my folks brought down my car and my dog and headed
off. This left their house empty Friday night and most of Saturday.
Late Saturday afternoon, GiGi and I returned home. Car went into the
garage. I left all the lights that were on timers alone and we went back
to bed fairly early. About 11:30pm, I was reading and GiGi was asleep at
the foot of my bed. Suddenly, she was just GONE. So I got up and headed
out to find out what was up. My folks have a long ranch house and as I
headed out of the hall into the Living Room, GiGi was coming back from
the Family Room (there is a front door in the Living Room and a door off
the side of the family room). GiGi made a bee-line for the front door.
That's when I heard the door rattle. What SHE had initially heard was
someone heading for and then rattling the side door. With me standing
there, she was no longer quiet --- that deep, scary WOOF that boxers on
guard have came out. I flipped on the front porch light and opened the
front door. There is a heavy "buck" storm door that was locked. GiGi HIT
that door doing her WOOF -- and I heard the guy fall off the porch,
scrabbling to get up. He ran off across the yard ... tripping over the
concrete edging around the driveway INTO the drive way. Scrambled up and
ran -- tripping over the OTHER side of the edging. GiGi was
"encouraging" him from inside the house the whole time. She let me know
when he was gone enough ... A bit of a look over a shoulder and she
headed down the hallway with a "You coming?" look.
Turns out there was a (supposed) police officer with a drug problem who
knew how to burglarize without getting caught. Everyone leaves a door
unlocked sometime. He'd try doors and then just walk in, taking only
cash and avoiding the back rooms. He had "hit" the house next door
several weeks before. I'm not sure how badly he was hurt from his
numerous falls at our place, but we heard he was caught not long after.
And GiGi? She just headed back for bed, curled up at my feet and went to
sleep.
