[Attachment(s) from Phoebe Snyder included below]IVDD is short for Intervertebral Disc Disease.
My Hansi is 9 years old and was diagnosed with this in 2007. Her first back problem was very mild. She was on medication for a few weeks and got better. But the second one was very serious and horrible. She was 95% paralyzed.
We took her to the hospital within 12 hours of the symptoms. We were so lucky that there were a veterinarian who knows about this disease very well at the hospital. She was on long term medication and physical therapy. The vet suggested us to keep her in a crate but we didn't. She hates crate and I was afraid that she will hurt more from trying to get out of the crate. Me and my husband took turns watching and taking care of her.
After those treatments, she got better and didn't need for surgery.
Her back legs are still weak but she has no problem to walk and running.I attached some photos of my babies.Black and tan, short hair is Hansi (She has an intervertebral disc disease).Red, short hair is Greta.Black and tan, longhair is Sophi.Orange Tabby, longhair cat is Rochester.I hope you guys like my babies pictures!PhoebeIn Loving Memory of My Beloved BabiesSimmie Sue(Smooth Hair, Black & Tan, Dachshund)12.28.1992 - 1.13.2003

Hello. I'm Angie from Reynoldsburg, Ohio and I've had three weenies. Casey, female, standard black and tan short haired, had to put her to sleep in 2010, she was 16. Bailey, male, red dapple, 7, standard short haired, and our rescue, Blue, male, 6, short haired blue tick standard. I just love my weenies... I couldn't imagine life without them.
