Yesterday did not start out bad...... not sure when it took the turn. Grand kids off to school, Shan and I went for groceries. Enjoyable morning spent and then we came home to find the lid off my youngest grandson's aquarium where he kept a 4' bull snake he had found. The snake was lose in the house somewhere. Did I mention I don't like snakes!! I stayed on my stool the rest of the afternoon, feet propped up, totally freaking out. My daughter, equally as into snakes as I am, was slowly moving things and jumping at the slightest (in her mind only) movement. Hey, I was not about to get off my stool, it was HER child after all that gave this snake the opportunity to escape. The grand sons came home to school and even with the help of friends were not able to locate the snake. Bed time came, every body went to bed. Me too, but very apprehensive about my bedroom and all it's hiding places. Had to give in and to bed I went shortly after midnight. Tossing and turning and feeling all crawly I finally dozed off. At 4am I was awaken by Bic scratching in my closet. I turn on the light and see her intensely watching the corner and digging at something. OH CRAP....the snake???? I grabbed a flashlight, ushered her out of my bedroom and there in the corner were CLAWS. Not the snake. OH no, my sweet grandson had two huge crawdads given to him by his teacher that he had kept in another aquarium in his bedroom that he obviously had left the lid off of before he retired. This dinner lobster sized craw dad had made it across his bedroom, under his door, down the hall, under my door, through my bedroom, strolling along the full length of my bed, taking a right turn and making my closet his motel for the night.. Thank you BIC (Boxer extrordinaire) for being on duty!! Shannon was called in a not so quiet voice to get upstairs for an early wakeup call. She had to catch it....after all it was HER child that provided the opportunity. Now the crawdad is back in aquarium, snake still on lose, I am still sitting on my stool with feet off floor, Bic, Taylor, and Dari are all on guard duty. That is my story and I'm sticking to it. So how was your day??
