Yes it is a problem. What I do is first keep it clean. I then use A&D ointment or Vaseline and starting under the inside corner of the eye make a light line of either going under the eye down to the bottom of their lips. What this does is creates a trail for the tears to follow and drop off from. The tears keeping the folds damp is what makes the irritation. Hope this helps.
