You are going to give her pneumonia that way. What you need is a large
syringe with a nipple on it. that way, you force her to suck on the syringe
to get the milk. We had this problem with squirrels. If they don't have to
work for it the way they do with a mother, they will breathe in the milk,
allowing the milk in the lungs causing pneumonia which can and often will
kill them. if you use the syringe, you can hold the plunger back, making the
dog really suck hard to bring down the milk. This will mean the dog swallows
all the milk instead of breathing it and will decrease the possibility of
pneumonia,
Poor babies.
They will have problems enough.

Subject: [boxer lovers] Question about feeding a puppy milk
How do you get a little week old puppy to drink milk out of a baby bottle
without it going into their nose... I have tried tiny bottles and regular 4
oz bottle with only one hole in it and she still sucks hard enough to get a
bunch in her mouth and some always goes in her nose and then it takes a bit
to get her nose cleared... I'm worried about getting milk in her lungs.
When she is nursing, she sucks really hard on a teat for a little bit and
then she stops and just lays there sort of half asleep and one of the other
pups knocks her off of the teat before she gets full...and her tummy is only
about half full while the others are all pooched out full...She is the
smallest now but was the same size as the others when she was born... I
don't want to lose her and I keep putting her on a teat so she gets enough
milk. She is plenty lively but small.
Any suggestions I have not thought of...
I am giving her and the other little gray one, canned goat milk...as a
supplement..but they are drinking off momma, Boo, most of the time...
