I feed my dogs raw meat and bones. Remember COOKED bones are dangerous!!! Once cooked, bones become tougher, elastic. Think about green, young wood. When you break it, it tries to hold together and splinters rather than break cleanly. This is how cooked bones behave and it is what makes them dangerous to your dogs. raw bones break more like dried sticks do. they shatter and crumble into smaller pieces. Much easier for a dog to crunch and digest.
That said, the best and most natural food for any dog is bones and raw meat. I feed veggies and occasionally, cheese as treats. But my dogs have eaten bones and raw meat since they entered our home at 12 weeks and 10 weeks respectively. They are now 7 years and 6 years respectively and, other than Tovi's epilepsy, they are incredibly healthy dogs, both from show lines and Mayhem was a show dog with 12 points and both of his majors. The only reason he did not finish was because I had to quit working and could not keep him on the road.
Yes, some vets are fanatically against raw diets. But, I have never seen a wolf start a fire or plant a seed.

Hi Gina - welcome to our group and the "wonderful world of boxers".... I have
to admit that our Titan does get a limited amount of table food but I have to
tell you honestly- our vet is totally, absolutely 100% opposed to it. He does
not even want us to use a piece of cheese to administer a pill. He is says
that he has seen so many dogs with pancreatitis - he does not want to see our
dog in there for that.....
That being said, we are guilty.....yikes....
This is our seventh boxer and I'm afraid they all have had table food from time
to time. Our problem is those big brown eyes that sit at the edge of the table
with the look.... "mom, how can you eat all that and not give me any????"
That's where we fell down in our training....
Welcome again.

Subject: [boxer lovers] Hi all!
Hi all,
My name is Gina M. and I was so excited to find this group and to know how much
other people love their boxers! I have a boxer named Tyson, and hes about a year
and four months. I was wondering if any of you give your boxers any table food?
I know that foods such as grapes, chocolate, raisins, etc are bad for them so I
stay away. I do sometimes give him chicken or eggs. Do you think this is ok?
