While Westminster would be quite the experience, it is not really the place
to think about a puppy search. Look for the smaller, regional shows for a
puppy contact. At something large, like Westminster, you are seeing THE best
of the best and THE most expensive dogs. that is, assuming you even have a
CHANCE to talk to owners or handlers.
Take a look around your area and see when shows will occur within driving
distance. Contact the organizers of some of the shows closest to you, even
if it will be a while until the show, and ask if they can help put you in
contact with owners and handlers.
Also, check out the ABC website. There is a generic puppy application,
there. Fill it out. Members of the ABC who are planning litters will see
your application and contact you. that is how I found my Mayhem and how I
will buy other dogs in the future. The process is simple and your info goes
to several reputable breeders at the same time.
Not only can this help you find a great pup, you can also make some lifelong
friends. And having those friends in the breeding world is hugely helpful
over time. And, who knows, one day, when life is sane, again, you may decide
to own a show pup. And you will already have the contacts to help you start.
Good luck!

I adopted my shar pei Curtis from a rescue group, he has Shar pei fever &
is in Renal Failure, I give him fluids at home.
BUT his levels have improved so we are happy about that. I know all too
well the heartache of watching a beloved dog
become ill, I can not do it again, its also another reason I will not get
another shar pei, not until they start testing for FSF.

I am lucky to were my husband has his own business & I can work from home,
My husband works alot
I am home 90% of the time, also because my boy Curtis has separation
anxiety, it has gotten worse since our beloved Mia
passed away. I contacted an animal behaviorist, our vet feels its
biochemical.

I wish we were able to have a second child, we are lucky to be blessed with
our daughter. I would never
have a puppy & a new born at the same time, EVER, I am not nuts! lol.

I won't & I am so glad you responded, I am learning so much! like I said
before we are in no rush.
we want to make our shar pei Curtis healthy first. he loves other dogs, he
plays rough, he needs
a dog that can play back with him, he is like a jack russel in a shar pei
wrinkle coat,

to me.
