Here's an article about the Chinese chicken treats --
http://www.dogsnaturallymagazine.com/fanconi-syndrome-and-chinese-chicken-jerky-treats/
I'd like to suggest we do our own little capitalistic fight against the
Chinese. Look at anything you buy. ESPECIALLY if it is to be consumed
(by you, your pets, etc.) or would in some manner be absorbed into the
skin, don't buy it if it says "Made in China." TELL the store manager
why you won't buy. If you can't find on the packaging "MADE IN xxxx",
most of us carry cell phones and generally there's a number on the
packaging. Call and ask where the item is made AND where all the
ingredients come from.
It is really hard to find items NOT made in China. They do exist. And,
if you can't find them, if you look online, you can find all kinds of
recipes to make your own dog treats. And you'll KNOW what's in them.
Heh, I made HORSE treats one year for Christmas for my barn mates ....
and the barn dog LOVED an oats, molasses and carrot cookie I made.
If enough of us start refusing to buy products from China that we
already know have killed our pets, especially if we let the store
management know why we're not buying, the stores will stop buying from
their sources and we'll have less to worry. Can a USA plant turn out
something bad? Sure, it happens. But not as often and generally the
recalls start BEFORE any of our pets are injured.
